FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions - Mattresses

Do you need a template to make a new mattress for my boat?
While we have over 700 templates in stock already, we don't always have both the top and bottom. We take great pride in making mattresses that fit your boat perfectly, and to achieve that we always make templates. The majority of the mattresses we make have angled sides, so we typically need a template of both the top and bottom of the berth.

I am really uncomfortable making a template - what should I do?
Making a template may sound intimidating but it's actually not that hard.  We can send you all of the supplies along with detailed instructions on how to make one and we can even jump on a call to walk you through it.   We've also got a video on the site (in the Templates section) that shows you exactly how to make a template - it's easier than you think!

How much does a mattress cost?
Great question! We don't list our mattress pricing on our site because every single boat is different. The quality and type of foam you want, the size of your berth, your sleep preferences - we need to know it all before we can give you a price. If you email us at info@customboatbedding.com we'll ask you a few questions that will help narrow down the options so we can give you a ballpark price.

How long does it take to make a mattress?
A new mattress can be ready anywhere between 2 to 6 weeks from order date. It depends on the time of year and how busy our shop is. If you are in a rush (heading out on a trip? You definitely want to have your new mattress before you go!), let us know and we will see if we can turn it around faster.

What is a topper?
Many of our clients have mattresses that are in good shape but not comfortable. To help with that, we offer custom 2 or 3 inch toppers that just add that little layer of cush.

Do you ship mattresses?
Unfortunately, we don't have access to one of those mattress rolling machines, so shipping mattresses in Canada is cost prohibitive for us at this time. Our mattresses are available for pick up.  Delivery can be arranged in the GTA, Midland and Collingwood areas.

Do you ship toppers?
We can ship toppers anywhere in North America, but we do charge for shipping. The cost is confirmed with you and added to your invoice for final payment right before it ships. Topper shipping starts at $250.

I LOVE the mattress you made me for my boat! Can I order one for my home!
Absolutely! We have had many customers come back to us looking for a home mattress, and we are always happy to make that happen. It's even a bit faster to turn those orders around because no template is required.

What is your return policy on mattresses?
We do not accept returns on mattresses. If there is a problem with the fit we will work with you to make it right.

How should I store my mattress in the winter?
We all know that a damp boat is deadly to a foam mattress. If you have room at home it is always a great idea to bring your mattress home for storage. If you don't have room, stand your mattress up on its side to maximize the flow of air around it. We leave our mattresses on board every year and use moisture absorbing products to try to control the humidity in the air. Our mattresses are 6 years old and still good as new!

Frequently Asked Questions - Bedding

What happens after I order my bedding online?
If you place an order for your custom bedding online, we will reach out to you right away to confirm your order. We will need to know the make, model and year of your boat, and if we don't have a template already we will ask you to confirm the exact dimensions of your berth before we get started.

Will you need a template of my berth?
We can make shaped duvets and quilts from measurements, but our fitted coverlet has to match your berth perfectly. For the fitted coverlet, we will most likely need a template if your berth has unusual shapes or angles. Once we confirm your boat we will work with you to determine exactly what we need to get started.

How long does it take to ship my order?
We understand that the summers are short and you need your bedding quickly if you are ordering it after your boat gets put in the water. Because of that we stock our most popular fabrics and colours to minimize the turnaround time required. Our universal sheets ship in 1 to 2 weeks, and our custom bedding ships 4 to 6 weeks from order date.

I don't see what I am looking for online - can you help?
You bet! We love working with our customers to source exactly what they are looking for. Email us at info@customboatbedding.com.

What is your return policy on the custom bedding?
We don't accept returns on our custom bedding. If you aren't satisfied with the fit or quality of our bedding product, let us know and we will work to make it right.  We will replace fitted sheet elastic or make minor repairs caused by manufacturing for up to 2 years from date of purchase.

Do you ship internationally?
We ship anywhere in North America.

I live in the United States - will I have to pay duty on my shipment?
Typically orders that are less than $800 in value are duty free.

Frequently Asked Questions - Universal Sheets

How do I know what size of sheet to order on the Universal sheet?
Our Sea Swag Universal Sheets come in 2 sizes for the standard V shaped berth and 1 size for the Island shaped berth. To figure out which one you need, just measure your berth at the wide end of the V and then measure the length down the middle.

V Berth XL:
Top measurement: 71” to 84”
Length: Up to 84”

V Berth L:
Top measurement: 58” to 70”
Length: Up to 84”

My mattress is only 4” deep. Will the Universal sheet work?
Of course! Our universal sheets are designed to fit berths up to 6” deep, but our super strong elastic helps the fitted sheet conform to mattresses that are 4” deep. If you decide to add a topper in the future, they will still work!

My berth doesn’t match the V or I configurations. Can I still get sheets made?
You bet! Sea Swag Custom Boat Bedding makes sheets for any shape and size of boat mattress. For unusual berths we may require a template to ensure we get the perfect fit, but usually we can make it just from measurements. Plus we already have close to 400 templates, so we might already have your boat covered! Email us at info@customboatbedding.com for more information.

What if the sheets don’t fit?
If the Universal sheet doesn’t work for your berth, we will exchange it for one that does provided you return the sheets to us unwashed. Send us an email to info@customboatbedding.com before you ship them back so we can help you figure out what you need.

How long will it take to receive my order?
In stock sets ship next business day.  Made to order sets ship within 1 to 2 weeks, provided we have the material in stock. If it is going to take longer, we will let you know via email.
